God uses ordinary, everyday people to release His purposes. Being on the streets weekly with the homeless lets me release this belief. For some reason, Jesus has put on my heart this idea that even the ignored and shamed have a call on their lives. Maybe amongst the poor walks a Charles Finney, a Billy Graham, or even a judge like Deborah. We go in search of restoring the called of God back into the fold of the sheep. We need our brothers and sisters who are roaming lost and battered to be doing the works God has called them to. In doing this, we see the scripture from Ephesians 4:16 happening which states, “From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Oh, how I need my brothers and sisters in Christ to accomplish the things the Holy Spirit has laid on my heart. The 153 project sees this truth in ministering each week to the poor and homeless. The denominational divisions that separate us are seemingly abolished as we minister to our dear and beloved friends on the streets. I see many churches from various backgrounds gathering together in unity and brotherhood releasing God’s love and favor to those who are in need. It is very practical in nature. Food, water, clothes, hugs, and even tears are shared. There is worship and singing. There are feet being washed. There are people praying together and laying of hands on those who are sick. There is hope being given back to those who had none. I believe that God is doing something wonderful with the ordinary. I think sometimes the flash and brilliance of ministry blinds us to the natural environment around us. Lately, I have seen Jesus in the simple. Do I want to see the glory and the miracles of His awesomeness? Absolutely! I love it! Still, in the daily life we live is where I believe He constructs a heart that trusts Him. Creation is groaning for the sons of God to be revealed. I want to be one. Nothing is impossible for Him.
